Bar Exam Registration for Out of State Associates Not Yet Hired
Our state has recently opened up bar exam registration. I am currently looking into practicing out of state for a law firm, but I don't know if I will be hired out of state through winter recruiting nor do I know if I'll actually be out of state. Is anyone else in this position? What if I get hired in February, and it's too late to register for that state's bar exam?

Aren’t you a 2L? Most states don’t require registration for the bar exam until winter/spring of 3L. (Doesn’t mean you won’t run into this problem but you shouldn’t be running into it yet?) Unfortunately there’s no simple answer, you just have to weigh your options, and ideally register for a UBE state so you have the greatest flexibility.

Re: Bar Exam Registration for Out of State Associates Not Yet Hired
Our registration is due in mid-November if we wish to sit for our state's July 2022 bar exam. Obviously, I am going to register just to be safe, but I just wonder what I should do about other states in which I might practice. I'm applying quite broadly for OCIs.nixy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:18 amAren’t you a 2L? Most states don’t require registration for the bar exam until winter/spring of 3L. Go look at the web sites for those states’ bar exam registration dates, but again, most states don’t require registration until well after 2L summer.
