Deferral and Class Year in BigLaw
I was wondering, to anyone who may have been deferred in 2008, did your deferral change your class year calculation at all? I heard it's normal for firms to either do Jan-Jan or Sep-Sep as the normal class year. Let's say we end up starting in March 2021, does anyone have an idea of how this might affect our class year / end of year bonus calculation? I expect a prorated bonus for the first year, but I'm hoping that it doesn't create any delays in becoming a second-year associate.
