Graduating 3L needing advice Forum

Hey everybody - to be frank, I'm a graduating 3L at T7 (one of CNP) with a 3.0 GPA. 1L was very poor, but boosted my grades up to a 3.0 (still below median, I know). Ended up hustling and received 2 callbacks with BL firms, but COVID-19 hit and hiring freezes went into effect. I spoke with one of the firms and they told me if the economy gets better and they have a need when they're class comes in some months from now - the group had agreed on me and were processing but COVID hit. I'm scheduled to speak with the other firm next week to know the details, but I'm not optimistic at all and I know I need a job.

I understand BL could very well be out at this point with the recession - but I'd at least like to get to a legal position or firm that can position me so that I could leap to a group of interest down the road 1-3yrs from now (think LevFin/Lending/Project Finance). CS has told me to scour symplicity - but there's minimal postings. With finals just ending, I'm planning on networking, but I don't know if there's an alternate pathway to what I'd like other than straight to BL, so I'm reaching out for all advice

What should I do? Open to any and every suggestion - thanks.

What did you do your 2L summer? Was it one of the practices you mentioned in your post?

In house at a very well known company - and no, not related at all.

I've done several seminars/classes in the practice though if it helps, and I also have a year of work experience in bond financing/lending type work - Industrial Development Authority related stuff

Have you reached out to alum at other firms yet? Don’t just contact them a resume, but maybe ask them what they do on a daily basis. They’ll assume you’re messaging them for a job, but they’ll still be helpful. Maybe they’re not hiring now, but they’ll probably think of you if there is an opening.
