Lateral Movement check-in
Has anyone seen any movement in lateral positions? I feel like everything I sent out and have interviewed for has been put on hold for now. With the influx of associates at firms that cut salaries/did layoffs, I’m wondering if more people will have input regarding the state of the lateral recruiting market.
Anyone have any movement on interviews/apps?

Curious about this as well.
I had a callback in the first week of March in a large market that has since gone to a shelter in place. I've sent two follow ups to the firm's recruiter but have not gotten a response. I am debating reaching out to the hiring partner directly to see if this is a hiring freeze issue or a fit issue. Seems to be a hiring freeze since the firm has not posted any new positions since my interview date, but being ghosted for 5 weeks isn't a good sign.

Isn't every major market under a shelter in place?Anonymous User wrote:Curious about this as well.

Yes. I meant to say the shelter in place went into effect a week after I interviewed.Anonymous User wrote:Isn't every major market under a shelter in place?Anonymous User wrote:Curious about this as well.

We've had a few laterals start since the beginning of the crisis, but I assume the hiring process was well underway before the crisis started. As far as I know, we're still recruiting laterals. This is at a V10 in NYC.

OP here. Thanks for the update. I guess I’ll have to figure out which V10 this is and apply.Anonymous User wrote:We've had a few laterals start since the beginning of the crisis, but I assume the hiring process was well underway before the crisis started. Niche market, but bankruptcy/restructuring is (obviously) extremely hot right now. I'm getting recruiter 3 or 4 recruiter emails/calls a day.

I don't doubt that bankruptcy is hot right now, but I'd guess that some of the heightened recruiter activity is because every recruiter out there is focusing on very few openings. The number of recruiters hasn't gone down, but the number of lateral positions have. If they are all continuing to work full time, the few open positions will see disproportionate activity.Anonymous User wrote:Niche market, but bankruptcy/restructuring is (obviously) extremely hot right now.
