2019 HYS grad. Currently working in biglaw in a secondary market.
Importantly, I have a year of GI bill benefits left. Original plan was to work in biglaw off about 18 months, then quit and move to public defender office.
Given current madness, if I get laid off, would it make any sense to get an LLM (for free) scoop up the GI bill money, make PI connections, and go to PD office? Or is that totally insane?

If the LLM makes sense, I don't see it really hurting you. Obviously, don't get a tax LLM, but UCLA's LLM with a specialization in public interest law or Northwestern's IHR LLM might make sense.

OP here, apparently it’s too late to apply, so this won’t really help if I get laid off.

Contact the schools. Im guessing due to the pandemic they will have trouble to fill out the classes and they would take a HYS grad. I got into my LLM in Tax program late April/early May so I hope they make an exception for you!Anonymous User wrote:2019 HYS grad. Currently working in biglaw in a secondary market.

Re: LLM to wait out recession
FWIW, I applied (and was accepted) to NYU, Georgetown and NU’s LLM In July 2018 (to start in August). All of them welcomed my late application. I was a very good candidate, but not HYS.
