Norton Rose v. Fried Frank (NY)
Interested in corporate/projects/asset management work in the NY offices. Which of these two options would you choose and why? My focus is on culture, prestige, best exit options, work/life balance (if possible at all).
Thank you for your help!

I don't have much info on Norton but FF is well respected for its m&a and funds practice. Is there any reason why you are even considering Norton? I dont think Ive ever seen them in any of deals I have worked on.

I recommend doing a bit of research on NRF's history in NYC, which includes an acquisition of Chadbourne and Parke (which had a much larger NYC presence than the London-and-Texas-based verein pre-merger). Some excellent people are still there, but I agree with above that FF has more NYC clout as it stands now.

Norton seems to have a better culture than the horror stories I hear of at FF. Also if I decide to go into projects, they have one of the best project finance teams and do a lot of international work which is interesting to explore. In general, Norton is a lot bigger with a big international presence. This in combination with projects work seems attractive.

Neither is at all selective with respect to grades.
But Fried Frank has an exceptional M&A practice. Not sure what Norton Rose is really good at.

Thanks for your input! Are your project associates miserable and would you happen to know if turnover is high?
