OP here, wanted to update the group. I passed on the opportunity. Pretty glad now given the oil market, which is significantly worse than the rest. In any case, I think I will be sticking it out for more fun times at the firm. Re-consider this once I am (likely) passed up for partner and made counsel or kept as a senior associate.

What ultimately made you reconsider?Anonymous User wrote:OP here, wanted to update the group. I passed on the opportunity. Ultimately it was not where I wanted to be. More time with the family will be great one day, but I did not want to lose out on the outdoor lifestyle. Weekend kids sporting events, etc. are all outside. Can't imagine sitting through that with 90 degrees and humidity. It is always cool here in the evenings, makes all of those types of things very enjoyable. We enjoy going to the pier on the weekend and grabbing lunch and enjoying the ocean breeze. I also don't want to be tied to O&G for my career (right now I do a mix of deals, makes me feel more confident that if one goes away I won't be unemployed). I may have been able to make a move out of O&G after, but that would have likely resulted in another move for my family since Houston is so heavily energy related. The really hard part was the low cost of living and no state income tax, this would have put us in a much better financial situation (those Houston suburbs are CHEAP). But either way the money is "good" and if I do this for another year or two I can stomach taking something that pays a little less.s1m4 wrote:What ultimately made you reconsider?Anonymous User wrote:OP here, wanted to update the group.
