Time to clear conflicts - poll
I’ve accepted an offer at a new firm (V50) and am trying to get a sense of how long it takes people to clear conflicts. I’m a IP lit associate myself.
Round up for this, for example if it took you 8 days to hear back, mark “2 Weeks”. You can select multiple options if you’ve lateraled more than once. Would love to hear people’s experiences with this process as already at the two week mark and am starting to feel a little nervous.
Thanks!

Have you reached back out to the firm? When I moved to my current firm, I was told it would take "1-2 weeks" to clear conflicts and heard nothing at the 2.5 week mark.
I reached out to my HR contact and was told that day that the conflicts department was very busy. The very next day I heard back that I had cleared conflicts. That left me with the general sense that the conflicts department did not start on my paperwork until after I sent the follow up email.

Yeah I’ve been in touch. Was told there was one “issue” they’re trying to work through. Hopefully (probably) it’s nothing and I hear back soon. Very excited for this particular firm hahaAnonymous User wrote:Have you reached back out to the firm? I have no idea how to answer this question because I don't' remember ever getting contacted about conflicts checks one way or another. It just gets shuffled through the paperwork at some point and nobody has deemed it important enough to inform me it's all good.
Just assume you're fine until told otherwise.

My conflicts process was like 2 days, but the background check took like 10 days.

2-3 weeks is normal if you have a decently-long dealsheet. I've had it go faster. I've gone through conflicts 5 times (including my corporate paralegal gigs). Yes, you will be behind new business conflicts checks.
In all of my years, I've never heard of anyone being conflicted out--they just put up an ethical wall and block you from iManage and physical records access to the client/matter you're conflicted on. It's NBD.
All will be well. I am sure you're itching to give notice once this is really, real. Be patient, friend!!!

A couple of weeks. If it takes longer, not a problem because sometimes it just does.
