Blind mailing biglaw firm question

Post by bananabreadmuffins » Thu Jan 02, 2020 3:27 pm

Fed clerk here applying to some law firms and sending a blind email out. Curious whether its appropriate to let the firms know whether I'm interested in a specific department or whether its best just to say that I'm seeking a litigation associate gig. For example, if I was really interested in environmental law or labor & employment (assuming the firm has such a group), would it be appropriate to say that I'm interested in a litigation associate position in those specific departments? Also, would it be bad to list multiple groups that I'm interested in? I'm still relatively junior ~3 years of exp, so any guidance anyone could throw my way would be very appreciated!
