Nashville Legal Market

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Nov 12, 2019 7:17 pm

My husband was just transferred to Nashville for his job, and I am in the process of doing some research into the legal market. I am a corporate associate with five years of experience at a V50 firm. I would prefer to go in-house, but it looks like in-house positions are extremely competitive and/or require healthcare experience. Assuming I can't land one of those positions, are there any good lifestyle firms in the area (i.e. lower billable requirement, less demanding schedule, collegial atmosphere, etc)? I am not too concerned about compensation (or prestige, for that matter) as long as I am making six figures. I have read through this forum that Waller and BBS are the most prominent corporate firms in the area, but I'm not sure what to expect as far as culture/work-life balance. Thanks!

I would try cross-posting in this thread to try to make sure some old Nashville posters see your question (not too many on here so they might miss your post) http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... #p10400932

Sorry I am don't have much info on the Nashville market (it's new for me too) and lifestyle of different firms. You will see that pay in Nashville is generally lower than elsewhere, with only the big 4 (BBS, Waller, Baker, Bradley) paying 140k and not very many other decent-paying firms that are as likely to be hiring right now just based on firm sizes (though Sherrard Roe I believe is hiring). I would lean towards going to 1 of the big 4 (BBS is king for corporate) if you aren't able to make the in-house move immediately. If you're coming from NYC I have a hunch you'll appreciate at least a somewhat slower pace, though minimum billables at the big 4 firms still tends to float around 1850 for bonus. Best of luck!
