Can someone please share their thoughts about Fitzpatrick Cella, post Venable merger? Is it a nice place to work?

I have friends who work there who were there prior to the merger and are still there, and they have no major complaints. I think they're still in the midst of doing merger transitioning which, from the sounds of it, should have been handled more quickly, more smoothly and with a greater focus on integration. My understanding is that some folks are placed in a separate building while they are trying to fully transfer everyone over to one building, which is strange to me, but I guess that's also #NYCrealestateproblems? I think there were partners who up and left and took some business and associates with them, but I think that's to be expected with mergers.

All in all, I think it's about what you're looking for and where you are in your career--are you incoming junior? Some people were upset because they went to Fitz looking for boutique experience and lifestyle, and are now but a branch of a large firm. The more senior the attorney, the more likely I think they will have more to be upset about. If you're junior, though, I don't think it will affect your experience much. I think it just comes down to them not having integrated the Fitz folks enough and not having merged processes, cultures, mindsets, expectations. Didn't sound like anything unexpected or awful though.
