Kansas City Plaintiffs' Firms

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Oct 30, 2019 11:27 am

Currently in biglaw in Cali and my spouse has ties to the KC area. We are thinking about moving to KC, where I would like to join a smaller plaintiffs firm. However, it's tough to learn a lot about plaintiffs' practices online, and I'm trying to use every resource I can... So, can anyone tell me about the general reputation of the following firms? Anyone know anyone who works at these firms?

- German May
- Robb & Robb
- Davis Bethune & Jones
- Langdon & Emison

Would appreciate any insight on this. Thanks!

German May and R and R are very different firms. Think sophisticated class action work (securities) for GM, vs. high profile personal injury stuff for R.R. I don’t know the other two firms.

Moving back home to KC from the east coast, open to all KC options including P firms. Anymore insight on these firms or others? Txs.

I’ve been up against Wagstaff several times. They are pretty good. Definitely have some good lawyers over there.

Do these 4 firms pay KC market rate (125k I believe?)?

I believe that German May lost a bunch of lawyers in the recent past

Also heard the same about GErman. Also they still have Quentin Lucas on their attorney page who has been mayor of KC for several years now and is not practicing.

I also must assume Robb and Robb has a number of attorneys given the types of cases they handle. Would be worth an application IMO.

Otherwise, for Plaintiffs' work in KC, it's the same as most other towns--smaller to midsized boutiques. Davis Bethune is good, Langdon is good. KC also has a number of big law firms if that interests you--I'm sure that's been discussed somewhere on here.

Can anyone give insight into the average salary at these higher end plaintiff shops in KC? Or, just any information from various firms in the area that are plaintiff/nonbiglaw?
