Too Late?

Post by jellypeanut » Fri Oct 11, 2019 10:42 am

Hello,

I'm currently a 2L at GTown/GW. Top 1/3, struck out during OCIs. Have been mass-mailing since September. Is it too late at this point? Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.

I have to acknowledge the A+ trolling of Georgetown.

People have been hired from mass-mailing later than this, so keep going. At the same time, there's a high chance the biglaw ship has sailed for you. So don't forget to look for other job opportunities.

Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't a troll, I've run into quite a few GWU students who seem to think they are peers of GULC since they are the top two schools in DC.

OP, while you shouldn't give up on trying to get biglaw for next summer, the focus should be on getting some kind of meaningful legal employment next summer, and then taking a stab at the 3L recruiting process. This is even more true if you are at GWU and not GULC.

Ah, I see. Kind of like UConn and Yale are the top two schools in Connecticut.

since everyone else in this thread just talked about law school rankings, and no one answered your question: I got my offer in late November (DC V50), but there are still some firms hiring here and there, much less than there was 1st semester. FWIW my CSO (but take it with a grain of salt, they aren't the most helpful) told me that there's a bit of a hiring spree in April and a couple last minute adjustments in May, but after MDW you've def missed the boat for 2L summer, (My program and a couple of my friends' programs run from 5/18 to 7/24)
But the current COVID outbreak might change their willingness to actively recruit rn.

Thank you for the kind response.
