Anyone have any funny headhunter/ recruiter stories?
A friend who’s a 3rd year had one recruiter call and pitch her a partner position that required “a book of business of 500k or more.”
One of our litigation associates got a call asking if he would like to lateral to our current firm. Someone else got pitched the firm he lateraled from.

Re: Funny recruiter stories
I got pitched a firm on the first day of my new job. I recently reached out because I hate my new firm, so I guess it wasn’t so funny. Memorable and impactful.
I also got pitched my old firm as well.
Also, I’ve been pitched the same job by the same recruiter who didn’t remember he emailed me previously. (One day apart).

Re: Funny recruiter stories
I work at a v50 in a somewhat niche corporate practice. I told a recruiter that I was thinking about moving, and to send jobs similar to what I was doing, if they had any.
They sent me a debt collection attorney opening.

Re: Funny recruiter stories
I got two:
(1) First recruiter I ever tried to use, I was trying to move from gov to private practice as a 2nd-3rd year atty. After my first meeting with the recruiter they sent me a list of firms with no actual promise or insight as to why they sent the firms they sent, so I picked a few I might be interested and that was it, didn't really hear from the recruiter again. At the same time I was fielding inquiries with connections, of course. A former higher-up at my agency had moved to a big firm and sought to recruit one of either me or a colleague, so he had his firm post a very specific job opening - it was clearly tailored for me and my colleague. Two weeks after the post was up the recruiter reaches out and says they found a super great position that I'd be perfect for! Duh
I told them that was from my own efforts, but thanks.
(2) After I left gov I actually wound up in-house. After a couple years I figured I'd try the firm move, but no recruiter would touch me. I guess since I wasn't a traditional candidate, no one wanted to put the effort in. Well, I thought I got lucky because one recruiter (from one of the bigger recruiter firms) responded to my inquiry and asked to meet for coffee. We sat and chatted for like over an hour, I thought everything was going well. Except he never followed up, never really helped, and ducked all my emails. While I can't be 100% sure, but he was gay and I think, looking back, he may have tried seeing if there was a romantic opportunity. I'm straight and married, so I guess that turned him off? Waste of time.
