I have SA offers from both in NYC. For DLA, I would specifically be assigned to litigation. At H&K I would have more flexibility. I have an interest in litigation but am not dead set - flexibility could be a good thing.
Both SA classes are pretty small, and I liked the people I met at both. H&K felt like it would be a little more "humane" as far as big law goes (I have paralegal experience at a V5), but DLA seems like it may open the door to a broader range of work once I become an associate.
While both firms have market annual salaries for at least the first couple years, I know that DLA is ranked higher on Vault and from what I've seen has a market bonus structure. However, I think that working there will perhaps require more hours, which I'm not afraid of but am still considering.
If anyone has any advice, or has experience at these firms in NYC, I'd appreciate the insight and guidance. I'm scheduling second looks at both, so hopefully I'll get a better feel soon. My two areas of concern are the breadth of longterm career prospects (sorry for being vague) and job security with the incoming recession (again, I know this is a black box, but it's another factor). I appreciate the help.
