Will an embarrassing offer call be held against me?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:20 am

I just got an offer from a firm in a market where I’ve had multiple callbacks. Because of this, I didn’t know which firm it was just based off of the area code. Yesterday, I followed up with one of the firms so when I saw the area code I assumed it was them. The name of the person who called me was also very similar to one of my interviewers. I told them how much I liked firm X, only to then realize that I was talking to someone from firm Y.

Will this be held against me? I feel like a complete idiot fml

Congratulations on the offer from X.

Depending on who you got through with at Y, it may have no impact. But it might. It happens. You can't do anything about it, don't even think about calling back to apologize. Just move on and be assured that you have a great option already.

Nobody cares. It happens all the time.
