So I tore my Achillies...

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:52 pm

It was a strenuous game of tennis and - pop. Now I am on crutches and debating surgery v. the non-surgercical route.

It's not like I am a waiter that I can't do my job in my current position. But the idea of being in crutches in work for a couple of months sounds no fun. Anyone else injured while working at their firm? What accommodations did your firm provide you to help out?

This stuff happens. I broke a bone in my foot playing basketball while I was in my first or second year. I was on crutches for a bit, and it was NBD. If you have to travel lots and you are prevented from doing so by this injury, then it could be a problem (in terms of inconveniencing your team). Probably even gives you some cover to join meetings from your office, though I wouldn't push this too far.

I tore my ACL. I missed a couple days after the injury and took about a week off after surgery. Nobody blinked.

My husband tore both of his achilles within 1 year of each other, operated on the first and not the second. I can't speak to work accommodations because he worked from home but feel free to DM about the surgery debate.
