I’ve had four callbacks for DC offices, one of which has turned into an offer:
Vinson & Elkins - offer
Perkins Coie
Hunton Andrews Kurth
King & Spalding
I’m looking to do environmental/natural resources work. Chambers says that HAK is Tier 1, Perkins and V&E are Tier 3, and K&S is unranked. I liked the people at all of them, but particularly liked Perkins and HAK.
Which firm would be the ideal if I wanted to practice environmental law in DC (e.g. prestige, exit options, quality of work, etc.)?
Thanks

I agree that Hunton is the top choice, but any would be fine.

Hi! I'm an OL, could I ask you a couple questions about your academic/career path? I'm interested in private practice environmental work and currently clueless about how to approach this. If you could DM me that would be awesome.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2019 8:25 pmI’ve had four callbacks for DC offices, one of which has turned into an offer:

To add a bit more detail, I have heard from folks at HAK DC that they a good amount of appellate work challenging EPA regs. Teams are split up by types of regs, like Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, etc.

Re: Picking DC Firm - Environmental
Hunton has been trying to grow its appellate practice by hiring former state SGs. It's the only place I know of in DC where summers with "normal" COA clerkships have been guaranteed spots in appellate.
