Searching/Accepting Jobs While Doing Fellowship Process? (EJW, Skadden, etc.)

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Aug 06, 2019 2:05 pm

Hi all. I recently got a post-grad fellowship host offer, but still need to go through EJW, Skadden, etc. for funding. Based on the org’s past history of applicants, they do have a very high success rate at getting funding. However, based on the fellowship process, I would not know until the Spring. While the host org (this summer’s internship) really wants me as a fellow, and they really pushed hard for me to pick them over other orgs, I feel I should just keep applying to other permanent post-graduate positions anyway. I would imagine that the funding is not guaranteed, although I haven’t heard of people — yet — who got rejected from EJW. There was one person who got accepted, but didn’t get funding (usually from firm partners in the last step).

Did anyone else — or know of anyone else — who also went and applied to other places while doing the fellowship process? Did they have to make a hard choice in the end to reject the fellowship offer and choose another position? Any tips?
