I guess if you are bidding the Austin offices along with the other offices, it isn't necessarily a "wasted bid" but I would not focus on Austin. Unless you are genuinely interested in healthcare stuff which I think is all Gjerset & Lorenz does, I would not waste a bid on it.

OP here. Should I be filling the top 10 slots with firms I really want? I'm confused how the lottery works

Re: Vandy OCI bid list (3.0)
Apologies if this is very harsh, but forget about Nashville, unless you bid very small boutiques/local firms. Even if you are lucky enough to get a pre-select from a large firm here, you will not be getting a callback with a 3.0 absent URM or exceptional WE.
Also, Atlanta is very tough on ties. "Close family ties" not going to be enough with those grades. Should be looking at smaller firms in those markets because the big firms are familiar enough with Vanderbilt to know where your 3.0 puts you in the class.
-Not Vandy but work at Nashville big four firm

I don’t know the school or these markets, but what about New York?
Have you done Pre-OCI mailing?
I feel that bidding multiple offices of the same firm may be a waste - the firm will often want you to choose- but again I don’t know these firms well.

Re: Vandy OCI bid list (3.0)
When I was in law school a few years back, I got an offer from Bass with barely over a 3.0 at a comparable school go Vandy (think wash u/UT), so I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. I wasn’t a URM, but I went to Vandy undergrad and knew some of the attorneys there from networking events in college.Anonymous User wrote:Thank you for this feedback!
