Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
Obviously everyone is stressed over their call backs, but can people not make useless posts over looks vs. intelligence because who knows or cares whether or not we got CBs based on looks.

So if you have top 10% grades at GULC and you do 15 OCI interviews in dc, and you strike out, should you assume you have some interview problems to work on, or is the competition just that stiff in dc?

I don't think anyone can really answer this question. Too many variables (e.g., how selective were the firms)Anonymous User wrote:So if you have top 10% grades at GULC and you do 15 OCI interviews in dc, and you strike out, should you assume you have some interview problems to work on, or is the competition just that stiff in dc?

I can tell you, I am in a similar position, and I am a part-time student with years of work experience. It's tough. Might have been the little things. Might have been focusing on the wrong thing in the interview, or not being as memorable. It's very competitive.

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
Can we shift gears to discussing CBs and outcomes?
I can start:
Willkie Farr NY CB ding
Sidley NY CB ding
FF NY offer
Milbank NY CB 8/13, (possible ding, as I saw an 8/14 CB already received offer on 8/15)

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
I did OCI at Georgetown for our DC office this year. Callback decisions are hard. Even if you have a stellar resume and your interview skills are A+, you may not be getting a callback for reasons mostly out of your control. Especially for the smaller offices, callback decisions (at least at our firm) are influenced by the needs of the office, and where we think the practice-area demand might be. If you say you want to do REIT work, and we have three lawyers in a 150-lawyer office that do REIT work, you're probably not getting a callback - even if I think you're an absolute rockstar. These numbers + practice area are hypothetical; want to stay anon for obvious reasons.
I can't speak for all OCI interviewers - some may care about different things and have different directions from their hiring committees. I just wanted to share my two cents from the other side, though it might feel like empty consolation to those who feel like they've struck out. I met a lot of great people at Georgetown and honestly wish I could've called most of them back.

Today’s the day I guess we start emailing wondering the status of the situation.
Has anyone started doing that yet and had any success figuring stuff out?

Assume both for your own well being.Anonymous User wrote:So if you have top 10% grades at GULC and you do 15 OCI interviews in dc, and you strike out, should you assume you have some interview problems to work on, or is the competition just that stiff in dc?
I only did DC and my home market. I only had 10 interviews and I now have 2 CBs from my home market. DC is notoriously competitive so I think it’s def important to hedge your bets by applying to better (read less competitive) markets as well as your dream market.
We’re in the running to make 3+k a week during the summer, there are no guarantees, especially not in DC.

I wouldn’t assume that but it does suggest you’re not in top 10% in terms of interview skills.Anonymous User wrote:So if you have top 10% grades at GULC and you do 15 OCI interviews in dc, and you strike out, should you assume you have some interview problems to work on, or is the competition just that stiff in dc?
Hound OCS and reach out to professors. Don’t be embarrassed. A lot of professors are very happy to refer someone who has fallen through the cracks to their own firms.
Career services are even happier to help.

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
Does anyone know the percentage of CB to offer in the DC market? I know NALP says 52%, but wasn't sure if that was skewed due to some regional markets..

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
Should you apply online to a firm you already interviewed with at OCI but actually would love to work at or is that not allowed?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
