I am a rising 3L at a lower-T14 who struck out at OCI. Looking back I know that my issue was with me lacking confidence while interviewing and it is something I've been working at.
Anyway, if I get into one of my school's JD/LLM programs, I'd be able to do OCI again under a "rising 2L" status. I was thinking of doing either:
1) International Business & Economic law because it is broad enough for me to have some flexibility in applying and a great fit based on my background the fact that I'm currently interning at a large firm abroad, or
2) Tax because I really liked Corporate law and it is a top program (of course, the con is that it is not very flexible and might be harder to get into)
Other info: I am a transfer and my 2L grades were not great mostly due to some extraordinary circumstances in my personal life that I have since taken care of. My current Summer internship will not offer a job post-grad; the most I'll likely get are some LoR from a handful of influential partners.
So, is getting an LLM for another chance at OCI worth it? If so, which one would be a better choice?

Re: Getting a JD/LLM to redo OCI?
I think there is a thread on LLM OCI you can check out but if I recall it seems to indicate LLM OCI doesn’t get you more than you could have got 2L. I would search for that thread and talk to current LLMs and see how it shook out for them.
Also, 3L OCI/mass mailing/tear fest has just begun and firms won’t know what they need for months. I read threads about people grabbing jobs up to 3L spring or later.
Given the above, along with the tuition + opportunity cost of a year on a LLM, I would keep mass mailing and networking hard for 3L OCI/tear fest. Maybe you can proceed with the LLM process as well as a backup, but I think you should go full steam ahead with mass mailing and reaching out to firms (leaning on teacher references or whatever you can).
If you get a 3L gig then bail on the LLM process or withdraw if admitted. If you don’t get a 3L gig, and LLM OCI is not a waste of time, then maybe do the LLM.
I would not just do the LLM as an excuse to stop your job hunt. If nothing else you need to practice your interview skills.

No. You go to a lower-T14. Just get any legal job, preferably corporate if that is what you like, then lateral after a year.Anonymous User wrote:I am a rising 3L at a lower-T14 who struck out at OCI. There are a lot of transfer students that do this at GULC, and I know quite a bit about it. If you have a fake account, reveal it and I'll PM
