-When would you advise rising 2L's to start mass mailing? I have not gotten my final grades yet and am wondering if I should wait on that
-I'm home for a month until my internship begins. I'm not interested in working in my hometown market. Is it worth reaching out to big law firms in my hometown in hopes that I could be referred to another one of their office locations? Or does that not usually happen?

Are your exams over? If so, you can probably start pulling together your application materials now and submit apps. You should concurrently network, though. Is your internship in a market where you want to work? Then you should definitely be putting your boots to the pavement and schedule coffee chats with folks at the firms in that market.Anonymous User wrote:-When would you advise rising 2L's to start mass mailing? For the firms in your hometown market, it's a little dependent on whether they have more of a national approach to their recruiting, or if it is more heavily local market focused. I don't think it can hurt to schedule informational coffee meetings with people at the firms you are interested in to hear about their practice and the firm as a whole. Just don't be obvious about the fact that you don't necessarily want to stick around your hometown market.

I would wait until grades comes out to really start mass mailing, assuming your school releases grades in a timely manner like mine around June 1st. That way you don't have to update 200 applications with your new transcript
