You're being unreasonable here. Also get a damn credit card and float it. I fail to see how that impacts paying rent. You sound ridiculous.
Also, "tons" of callbacks? Ok.
That said, just talk to the recruiter. They'll understand, can likely put it on a firm card, and have no say in hiring.

Ok, fair enough. I probably overreacted, haven't really slept in a couple days. I do have a credit card, although only approved for a pretty modest amount which I maxed out since 0% interest and I transferred my balance from the card I lived off of during bar prep. It's not like I'm living hand to mouth. But I only have about $800 float after I wait for ~$700 in reimbursements for ubers/meals/trains/etc. for other callbacks over the last month. re: "tons" a couple 1L, another 5 or so trips 2L, and then a few during clerkship. Enough that I felt like I understood standard procedure.
But thanks for perspective, I recognize now I overreacted, just was a shock.

OP, you’re not being completely unreasonable. Usually it’s only lower tier firms that use this tactic. However, you should try to figure your life out if a $1200 hit means the difference between paying rent and not paying rent.

Thanks.
