In the process of applying to local ADA positions in nearby counties. I am in a conservative southern state and applying to mostly conservative counties with some large liberal counties in between. Here is the thing: During law school early 2L year, I was arrested for a high level misdemeanor assault (not simple assault) close to winter break. The case was dismissed after alternative sentencing, 8 months deferred prob. fine, and C/S. Case cannot be sealed yet because of limitation period, but I am pretty close to sealing it.
I am in the process of applying to ADA positions, how badly will it hurt me? Again, this was not a conviction and was dismissed after completing conditions. This all occurred a little over 2 years ago. Had no issues with state licensing after disclosure, and am licensed and recent law grad.
I know for PD, I've heard that as long as you pass Bar because Bar investigates C/F and are ultimately licensed by state to practice law, you should be good to go (PD rarely does extensive background checks)... but how different is it for County ADA? Will it hurt me? I really want to be an ADA and am and will work hard towards it. Already receiving a few interviews. At most, I feel I may be disqualified for a few years because it is fairly recent even though I have never been convicted in my life or have a history. This is holding me back! Also, will sealing this do anything much for me?
