Asking Summer Firm for Conflicts

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jan 07, 2019 7:35 pm

Hi all,

Did a 2L SA this past summer that I'll be returning to and am doing a clinic this upcoming semester. I have a conflicts form to fill out in anticipation of the clinic and while I thought I'd kept track of most what I worked on over the summer I realized my list has quite a few gaps. I feel like this is something we're expected to keep track ourselves of and so I feel slightly awkward contacting my firm for the full list. Is this something that's relatively common and I shouldn't worry about reaching out to the firm for or is this the kind of thing that might annoy people at the firm?

The firm wants to avoid conflicts more than you do. Just contact them and verify the procedure you should follow. You can’t take a risk of missing something no matter how unlikely it seems.

Definitely ask the firm. The firm has a much wider scope of conflicts than what you worked on. My school’s clinics required us to ask and I almost had to switch clinics for conflicts reasons.
