Public Trust background check and credit issues

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:45 pm

Anyone have any experience with credit bad enough to be a problem for passing one of these in federal hiring? Wondering if a medical collections account is enough to cause issues. Thanks.

Is this unpaid or in collections? It's going to be a bigger problem if you have an outstanding debt than if you have a debt that was paid late.

I was told that the only per se bars to employment were post-bar drug use, failure to pay taxes, and default on student loans. That said, bad credit isn't great, but I think that if you can show you have a plan in place to address the debt you should be okay.
