Hi - I'm trying to lateral. I'm working with one recruiter who mentioned that she doesn't need a cover letter from me even though the job posting on the firm website asks for one.
When I asked her why, she said she creates the cover letter and I could add something specific to her cover letter that isn't on my resume etc.
Is this normal?
I have never worked with a recruiter before so I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

You should review every document of each application that the recruiter sends. At the end of the day it's your name on the application. Especially if you've only just met this recruiter, maybe different when you've had a relationship.

Yes of course I would review every document the recruiter sends. But, I'm wondering if it's normal that the recruiter would draft a cover letter? Wondering if someone could chime in based on their experience using a recruiter.misterjames wrote:You should review every document of each application that the recruiter sends. Re: Recruiter creates and sends cover letter?
OP, this is normal. The letter usually goes something like, "I present to you John/Jane Doe, who graduated from yadda-yadda and has since yadda-yadda. I've talked with them and think they'd be a great fit."
But OP, don't use recruiters. They cost firms extra and they really don't give you a leg up at all in the process.
~mid-level who does tons of hiring.
