Thank you email for mid-size firm?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Oct 05, 2018 11:33 pm

I know thank you emails have been asked about a lot on here but I'm still having trouble deciding if it's worth sending. I interviewed for a SA position at a regional firm with about 50 attorneys that typically hires less than 5 SAs. I think the interview went decently well, certainly room for improvement on my end but not bad and I really liked the firm. Given the size of the firm and SA class, is a thank you email necessary? I'm leaning towards not sending one but am really getting the feeling that I should. Thanks.

Not sure how the size of the firm or SA class has any bearing on the appropriateness of a thank you note. I’d absolutely send one.

I'm against sending thank you emails when interviewing with large firms during the OCI stage, but strong supporter of sending them when interviewing with smaller firms, in-house, or large firms outside of OCI. In those circumstances you have to separate yourself from other candidates, and frankly, some attorneys will expect them.

Still, make sure it's carefully edited, with no errors, and strong grammar. Good luck.
