Disclaimer: I have a job. But this is annoying as hell.
Why do firms keep rejecting me when I haven't even applied?
Also, I'm URM and I get these rejections with simultaneous affirmative action emails asking me to declare my race ect for their reporting purposes. Not classy. Any other URM's getting these emails or am I going insane?

Did you bid on these firms at OCI? Even if you later canceled your bid and/or pulled a no-show, you may still be in their records as an applicant.Anonymous User wrote:Disclaimer: I have a job. But this is annoying as hell.

Definitely not one of them because they were not at OCI. The other three, probably not. They're very high ranking firms, way outside of my GPA range. I would not have bid on them and there is no way they would be interested in me.QContinuum wrote:Did you bid on these firms at OCI? Is there a chance that someone else submitted your resume (career services or by mistake)? This happened to a friend of mine and it was the result of an honest mix up by another of our friends. Friend 1 sent her resume to friend 2 to use as a template. Friend 2 accidentally submitted friend 1’s resume to a few firms instead of his own. Friend 1 was very confused to get rejections from firms she had never of in a region of the country where she wasn’t looking.

I'm also getting emails asking to complete forms to self-identify... from firms who already dinged me. Not URM, so you're not targeted as URM I'd think.
Also, I think race is the lesser factor, the main data they are going after is disability and veteran status (which they're legally required to if they declare to preferentially hire veterans).
As for how you got onto that list... maybe signed up in 1L for an event / firm's career service and they just never unsubscribed you.
