Dumb question - how do you "mass mail"?
I've read about people "mass mailing" to hundreds of firms. I don't understand how they do that. It seems to take me quite some time to find who to address the cover letter to, fill out the e-mail or online form, and double-check for no spelling errors in the portions I've changed...etc. Am I missing something?

There's no secret that you're missing, but I would say that emailing recruiters is MUCH more efficient than filling out tedious web forms.
But, assuming you're basically copying and pasting and just changing the law firm name and the recruiting contact's name (which is all you should really be doing for most of these, unless you have a personal connection that you're working), you should be able to get an email out in 5-10 minutes, tops.
