I’m interested in litigation generally. I have other offers/CBs but I’ve decided I want DC and these are my best options there.
My spouse and I are expecting a baby this fall, so family friendliness is important to me - low facetime requirement, ability to take work home, less travel, supportive partners and seniors. Seems like AG might be a little better in that respect.
Thanks!

isn't JD a black-box shithole? assuming Akin pays market plus market bonus I'd go there with those two options.

Black box yes, but not necessarily a shithole - there are a lot of people who like their system (although I personally do not agree with it). JD is probably the stronger firm for litigation, but Akin Gump is definitely the more family-friendly.Anonymous User wrote:isn't JD a black-box shithole? assuming Akin pays market plus market bonus I'd go there with those two options.

Some people might have good balance at AG DC. (I worked in lit there). But when your case blows up, prepare for shitty hours no matter where you’re at. I had a very satisfying year at AG, followed by an absolutely insane year where I was at the office after midnight almost every single day.

It's funny that you should be choosing between these two firms -- I found both offices noticeably political, but at opposite ends of the spectrum. One of the attorneys who I met with at Akin literally had an impeachment bingo board on her desk, and it seemed in general that people at Akin were very upfront about their political leanings. That being said, I got a strong family-friendly sense from Akin (spoke about it with three of my interviewers) while this was entirely unaddressed at Jones Day. If you really value work-life balance and family-friendly policies, Akin is probably the best choice.Anonymous User wrote:I’m interested in litigation generally.
