Big-Law Firms Delaying Associate Offers

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:56 pm

I worked as a summer associate at a big-law firm in a secondary market (think GT, HK, BIlzin etc.) that has yet to inform its 2018 summer associates about full-time offers. The summer associate program ended two weeks ago. Is it unusual for firms to take this long in making their offer and no-offer decisions? It seems like most summers at other big-law firms got their offers at the end of their program or a day or two after the program ended.

No insight to add, but feel for your situation. These firms market themselves as offering partnership potential vs. the higher-paying satellites so I don't see how they can afford to build a reputation for also lagging the market on retaining their own.

From my experience in a secondary market, I don’t actually think this is unusual.
