I’ve reached out to multiple recruiters who initially emailed or called me. I talked with them for like half an hour, they talked about some “plan,” and asked me to send a resume and transcript (some didn’t ask for that).
After doing this, they go silent. I know recruiters reach out to hundreds to thousands of applicants, but would it kill them to just say they can’t help you instead of holding you in limbo?
I’m a second year so I know it’s harder to place me, but at least I’d like to know the recruiter isn’t even trying since I’m a low priority to them.

IME this is not usual. But if it is happening, you need to be a little more proactive with screening the recruiters before sending a resume and transcript. Either they come to you with a specific opportunity, or you tell them the parameters of the opportunity and let them come to you.

They usually tell me the opportunities upfront. They tell me they won’t send my resume until I agree, etc.Anonymous User wrote:IME this is not usual. They also all work at the big recruiting firms so I thought they’d be more professional about it.
I reached out to a recruiter after not hearing back from them after a few weeks and they haven’t responded yet. That was almost a month ago.
Edit: another reason I’m concerned/annoyed by this is that I’m now working with a responsive recruiter and I have no idea whether the crappy recruiter has already submitted my application everywhere without my permission.

Recruiters’ skills vary wildly, and the worse ones are flaky and indecisive - or just don’t communicate well.
