Stuck in limbo after callback

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 06, 2018 2:24 pm

Had a pre-OCI callback three weeks ago. Firm has a decently small summer class and has already given out multiple offers to others at my school. I followed up with recruiting last week and I was informed that a decision has not been made (but I was told to stop by at my school's OCI to meet more attorneys). At this point, I feel that I'm being kept around because 1) they want to compare me to a larger pool of students from my schools and 2) since there's already many offers out.

Any advice on what I can do so the firm doesn't lose interest in me (or if there is even anything to do)?

Nothing you can do other than do what they said and stop by during OCI. Meanwhile focus on getting offers from other firms

I already have another offer so I'm not super worried but I think I like this firm more. I did stop by during OCI and spent about two hours with the recruiter and some attorneys. Just trying to show I'm still interested at this point.

Then you did what you can do. I guess just wait and see what happens. If it starts getting closer to the point where you need to give the other firm an answer, email the firm you want and let them know that you only have (x) days before you have to let the other firm know, but that they are your top choice and you'd accept if given an offer. This will hopefully move up their decision

Since it's a small office I'm going to go ahead and guess that what's going on is that you're essentially on the waiting list. They're waiting to hear back from other candidates who have received offers and if enough of them decline the offer, they may extend you an offer. This means the process could drag out for a while because offers are outstanding for up to 28 days.
