Callback Reimbursement Logistics

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 06, 2018 1:53 pm

I'm currently in my school's OCI process (in New York) and I already have an offer for a firm I really like. My question is if other firms in my target market (outside New York, at least a flight away) would care where they are flying me from for callbacks if I choose to go back home for a couple weeks before school starts? For example, if I'm applying to an LA firm and get a callback, would they still fly me out from Ohio even though they would be expecting me to be in New York (where I go to school and did my screener)? Thanks!

Not a big deal at all. I am doing it (but in the reverse). I am from NY area and home for the summer, but I go to school in another city. I have pre-OCI CBs scheduled in NY for the week after OCI. I am having the firms fly me down from school after OCI (one way, and then staying by my parents) even though I am "supposed to be in NY" at the time. You happen to be in city X; you need to be in city Y for the interview; they will get you there (and back).

The firm will pay for one trip to the firm, one trip away from the firm, and one night in a hotel per firm you're visiting. Where you are flying from, or flying to, does not matter. You just tell the travel department what you want and they'll book everything for you.

OP here. Thank you both! Our career services office told me firms would not (in fact, the counselor I asked actually laughed at me for suggesting it) but that masde no sense. Glad to hear it's not the case!
