AUSA Hiring-Reference Check
Went through two rounds of interviews recently with a U.S. Attorney's Office for an AUSA position. The office just reached out to my references. Anyone have insight into how many candidates typically have their references called? Also, anyone have a general timeline from reference check to offer? Thanks!

Re: AUSA Hiring-Reference Check
I think it's a good sign in that contacting references was a prelude to both offers I've received. That said, I think they care quite a lot about what references say (or at least that seemed to be the case in my experience), so I can't offer you any guarantees, but I don't think they're going to do it for people they're not serious about. My checks came 1-2 weeks before offers, but don't be discouraged if that timeline doesn't hold true, because you never know what else is going on in an office.

Re: AUSA Hiring-Reference Check
It was almost exactly a week from the request for my references to the tentative offer letter. It's a very good sign, but you never know. Good luck!
