Just coffee or more?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jul 25, 2018 11:09 pm

I am a rising 2L about to go through OCI. I reached out to an associate at a firm who attended my law school and who practices in the city where I'm working this summer to see if they would be willing to either have a short phone call or meet for coffee to discuss their experience.

They responded that coffee would work and solicited my resume, which I provided. I got a follow-up email the next day saying that, if it's alright with me, one of their colleagues from a different group (who, according to the firm website, didn't attend my law school or undergrad) would be joining us as well. I replied that that would be great to be able to learn about multiple practices in the city.

My question: Am I wrong in thinking this isn't just a normal informational coffee and that I should treat it as a screener? Or am I reading too much into this? I just don't want to get my hopes up if it's the latter.

Anyway, thanks for the input!

If you make a good impression, this could very well lead straight to a callback. So treat it seriously. Best of luck!

Treat this as a screener, OP.
