Foreign Educated Attorney with NY Bar....

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jul 25, 2018 10:46 pm

....I just got admitted to the NY Bar this month and expecting permanent residency soon.

I also live in GA and wanted to know whether I should go with an LLM at Emory to increase my employment chances (GA Bar only accepts ABA qualifications, even from foreign educated attorneys).

Would my employment chances in GA be greater with this LLM? Is it worth it?

Georgia firms will expect candidates to be eligible to practice law in Georgia. If it's true that you won't qualify for admission to the Georgia bar absent the LL.M., you should absolutely do it.
