Writing sample for USAO

Post by angryhedgehog » Wed Jul 04, 2018 7:48 am

Didn't find anything relatively recent on this -- what type of writing sample would be preferable for AUSA applications? I'm mostly looking at (a) opinion/bench memo from district court clerkship on a non-criminal law topic with more complex but primarily legal analysis, or (b) pretrial motion from practice from a run of the mill CJA guns and drugs case. Caveat that I'd prefer not to use anything from clerkship if I can avoid it. Thanks!

Having recently done an ausa interview where this came up, I can tell you definitely the latter (at least in this district). Good luck!
