firm start date - how did you choose?

For people who get choices of start dates at their firms (Sept, Oct, Nov), which date are you picking and why? Having a hard time deciding...

I chose the latest start date because I wanted the extra time to spend with my newborn.

Assuming you have $$$ to carry you, pick a later date and enjoy the most free time you'll ever have again for years.
