Midsize firm hiring committee process?

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jun 11, 2018 2:58 pm

I've never been in a firm before let alone a midsize firm, so any thoughts or insight is appreciated.

A former boss/mentor/friend of mine started as a partner at a midsize firm maybe 3 months ago. I'd really like to join him at the firm as an associate and discussed this with him so at his request I gave him my resume 2 weeks ago. Last week he tells me the firm recently convened a hiring committee specifically for associates (the firm is extremely partner heavy right now, apparently there's a broad desire to bring on some help), and I am already in the mix for consideration.

Any idea how long something like this could take to materialize? Hoping this doesn't put me in some sort of purgatory and I'm sure my connection will try to push. Basically I'm trying to determine if this is a "couple of weeks" or "few months" type of thing.
