Summer at V5, should I consider 3L hiring??
Hearing whispers that partners are upset about the raise and don't want to match, and the bonus made it worse. Also, my firm took a big class and is a little slow right now. Even anticipating a salary match, I'm concerned about the financial health of the firm. Should I be considering 3L hiring? We were promised market-leading compensation and this delay makes it clear how unhappy associates are. Having second thoughts now and am suddenly warming to the idea of project finance at Millbank.

Pretty sure I’m at same V5 based on big class comment (obviously could be different but our summer class is noticeably bigger this year). If same, then can confirm at least corporate has been really slow. Would expect partners to be irritated. That said, don’t think anything is worth jumping to p fin over there (not a knock against Milbank, finance generally sucks and that’s a pretty niche practice)Anonymous User wrote:Hearing whispers that partners are upset about the raise and don't want to match, and the bonus made it worse. Cravath isn't doing too well. They've had huge rainmaker defections after lowballing the market in 2016, and are bleeding partners. These so-called super elite firms are paying their associates less than Jones Day at this point ffs.
