Customs and Border Protection General Attorney

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jun 01, 2018 4:19 pm

Does anyone have an insight on these positions? I’ve noticed DHS CBP has been hiring for these general attorney spots all over the country. They’re GS11-14 positions and seem to cover a wide array of duties. Here’s an example of one posted recently:

And for those of you who’ve had experienced interviewing for these jobs: what’s the interview process like?

I had multiple personal connections at the GC shop but I'd say the interview was a very federal position panel interview. The questions asked were really more about my GS level and step expectations and which division I wanted to join (coming from another agency at GS 14 but might need to take a grade demotion).

They wanted you to take a grade demotion even though the position could be filled at GS14? I’m currently a GS14 and would not be happy taking a grade demotion. I’d be hesistant to take a GS13 job with 5-6 of experience.
