Graduating 3L possibly failed pass fail exam??

Post by Anonymous User » Fri May 11, 2018 11:25 am

Hi I’m a second semester 3L. I took evidence of the semester pass fail. I did not have much time to study. So after the exam I really feel like I did not do well. According to our school you need a C to get a P.

Do u think a t-14 will allow a professor to actually fail a student for a pass fail course and prevent them from graduating?

I mean yeah of course, if you really did in fact bomb it. You probably didn't do as poorly as you think though. I thought I failed my antitrust exam my last semester and it turned out I got a B+. All hail the curve.

My t13 did this a few years ago. Was a big public ordeal but the kid deserved the failing grade.

What might happen is that a failing student, deserving the failing grade, will not necessarily be prevented from graduating, but will have to convert the grade from pass/fail to an actual letter grade on the transcript, thereby affecting the GPA. In other words, let's say you got a C- and therefore "failed," instead of putting F (or whatever equivalent indication on your transcript), the school will just put your C- and then your GPA tanks. Not ideal, but would allow you to graduate.

Or you might get the F. If you have enough credits, all it will do is destroy your GPA. But it won’t matter anymore if you have a job. Clearly you weren’t gunning for honors since you seemingly didn’t study for the exam.

If you don’t have the requisite number of credits, the grade may be converted to a D- or whatever the professor is allowed to give instead of the F for P/F. Similar to what the above said.
