In house to big law? Forum

If one were practicing in-house in a relatively specialized field, and already had government experience in said specialized field, how would such a person go about making a move to a big firm? Assume such person is in the mid level associate range for years of the practice and has a mediocre academic background (say, median at a strong regional TT). Recruiter? Cold applications? Reach out to alums?

Thanks for the input, I've been thinking the same. Although I've found it a bit difficult to get their attention. Perhaps I should move away from the "big name" recruiters (i.e. MLA, Lateral Link) and try a smaller, more localized shop. I'm looking in NYC, any recommendations?

I can't recommend anyone in NY specifically, as I'm not familiar with the market (SV EC/VC Associate). But yeah, you might consider a more specialized recruiter.
