No Background Check?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue May 01, 2018 11:07 am

SA starts in one month and still haven't been asked to do any type of background check. Normal for a firm to not conduct one? Should I expect one soon?

My firm conducted two background checks. They ran the first check soon after I accepted the summer offer, and the second just occurred a few weeks ago (one month before the start of program). I have to imagine that they will run a background check at some point.

Is there a reason you're concerned about it?

To qualify myself on the subject, I had a DUI on my record (I successfully sought expungement a few months ago, but not before I was required to disclose the charge to the firm), countless speeding tickets (so many that I was required to have special insurance by DMV), a littering ticket (I threw a cigarette out the window of my car), a few drunk in public arrests (charges were dropped every time), and an arrest for multiple felonies when I was a minor (charges were dropped after pretrial diversion program). I share this so you can fully understand how scared I was of the background check process. Note: I was only required to disclose the DUI to the firm per the firm's instructions on their offer forms.

After two background checks, I am still here. In fact, I just received an email a few days ago asking how I want my name spelled on my office nameplate. I would not worry unless you failed to disclose something you had a duty to disclose.

Actually not worried I just thought it was odd I haven't been asked to do one yet and start in under a month.
