Would a criminal conviction be problematic in terms of getting hired into a US Attorney's Office?
I committed vandalism when I was younger - it was originally a felony, but later reduced to a misdemeanor.

I am not certain anyone could give you a definitive answer, but I think you are facing an uphill battle. I am sure it will depend on how long ago (as in, was this something you did as a juvenile or was this around law school?) and how egregious the facts are.
If it was something like you were 14 and spray painted a realtor sign with friends from the neighborhood, I don't think it would affect you. If this happened when you were an adult, I think it will give them serious pause for judgment concerns. Obviously, I cannot say for sure either way.
I had an underage drinking citation (not an arrest) for city hall when I was like 19 and in college and had to write an extremely long statement explaining same. It held up my background check for a long time. I was also just an intern, not an actual AUSA. I did eventually get cleared but it was not easy and very time-consuming.
