Applying for two positions at the same firm

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Apr 11, 2018 4:37 pm

I had a callback interview a few weeks ago for a lateral position, and really like the firm/group, but it's been radio silence for a while now. They said it could take a few weeks, so not too unusual. Since the interview though, the firm posted another opening in a related practice group, and one of the partners I interviewed with and really got along with is in both groups.

Would I shoot myself in the foot for my first interview if I email the partner and say something like "Still waiting to hear about position 1, but wanted to let you know it was great meeting you and I also applied for position 2"

Thoughts?
