For how many years does Morgan Lewis do cubicles until associates get their own (or shared) offices?JHP wrote:Pretty sure Morgan Lewis NY does this as well. (Source: friend worked at Morgan NY)

This would be more than a tiebreaker for me. Having been an associate at a big firm this is a gigantic quality of life issue and decisive in many recruiting decisions and its amazing firms don't see that.

Re: Cubicles?
Wanting your own office to work in is not being spoiled. No one here is asking for a corner unit with city views, although interior offices suck.
These firms bill first year associates out at insane rates and keep most of it as profits for partners. An office in NY is expensive but not so expensive that you can’t give an associate an office. If firms are going to complain about associates not billing enough, they should provide an office to do work.

Why? If you have the grades, go to any of these firms DC offices and you will get a nice view with a big window and your own office day 1.paperrev wrote:Y'all sound incredibly spoiled :/

Yep it’s us who are spoiled and not the partners with three homes putting associates in cubicles to juice PPP

Cubicles are very prestigious, hence why many vault firms use them.

(Vast majority of) Latham first years aren’t in cubicles. Latham summers might be, but the office is pressed for space, which is why they might be moving.

Re: Cubicles?
No. Cubicles suck. Most biglaw firm offices have their first years working in office rooms (usually sharing with another first year).paperrev wrote:Y'all sound incredibly spoiled :/
I thought all biglaw juniors work in office rooms until I saw this thread. Maybe Latham is way too big and cannot afford office rooms for juniors in some offices.

Had a Morgan Lewis NY CB last August and the first year who took me out to lunch had a shared office and said first years typically have shared offices.JHP wrote:Not totally sure, but I think it might be for the first year, maybe two?synergy wrote:For how many years does Morgan Lewis do cubicles until associates get their own (or shared) offices?JHP wrote:Pretty sure Morgan Lewis NY does this as well.
